My poor baby Erin. Last night was woke up at 10pm and we couldn’t get her to go back to sleep until 1am because she was writhing in pain. I was able to take her to the dr this morning (our peed office has Sat and Sun AM hours in the winter! How awesome is that!!!) and of course, double ear infection., really bad in the right. The idea of tubes has been introduced. But the doctor, my mother, and I agree that we should try to wait until the summer before seeing an ENT because 1) after sick season ended, she may stop getting them on her own and 2) after she is out of school for the year they may go away on their own. So as long as we can manage them until then, we may not have to get tubes at all. Unfortunately WE are not the ones who have to go through the pain and I felt horrible watching Erin try to get comfortable enough to fall asleep last night. Every time she laid down her head (on her ear) she would scream out in pain. It made me so sad. But as of now she has had one dose of antibiotics and will have another before bed. Hopefully that will make the difference.

On another note, Leah is amazingly strong! There was a rock wall at the park we went to today. She was able to climb all the way to the top (unharnessed) with minimal help and then climb back down with NO help twice. I would love to take her to once of those indoor places and see how she does. I wonder at what age they allow them to climb with harnesses. Mandi, do you know?

  • It’s baaaaaaack! Just like when I was pregnant with Erin, I cry at everything now. The commercial where all the people pay it forward… anything with kids… every 5 minutes in Gery’s Anatomy… it’s pretty ridiculous.

Funny thing Leah said today. We were at the playground and the girls were piling up mulch and I asked if they were making a birthday cake. Leah said, “Yeah, we are making a birthday cake for you, Mom. It’s strawberry cream mushroom!”

I have been awarded the Smile Award from Kelly and Stephanie. Thank you so much, girls, for deeming me worthy of such an honor.

What does this great honor mean? Recipients of the Smile Award must:
    ~ display a cheerful attitude.
~You must show love to others.
    ~You must make mistakes.
    ~You must learn from others.
~You must be a positive contributor to blogging.
    ~You must love life.
    ~You must love kids.

According to Kelly, I deserve this award because “Angelle became my friend when we taught together 7 years ago in Florida. Then as luck would have it she moved to NC a few years after Tim and I did! Angelle is full of great tips on all types of things- from cooking to great kid DVDs. She posts regularly and hers is one of the first that I check when I finally get the time to get on the internet.”

Stephanie thinks “I LOVE her blog! She reminds me of myself! She loves to bake….and she’s given me recipes of some awesome cupcakes! I also love reading her blog….she’s good at posting great things!!!

Once you accept the Award you are then required to follow these simple rules:
Here are the rules for the Smile Award:
~You must link back to the award creator. (We still can’t figure out what the name is–the text is so small!)
~You must post the rules if you are a recipient.
~You must choose 5 people to pass the award to.
~You must fit the characteristics of the award.
~You must post the characteristics of the recipient of the award.
~You must create a post sharing your win with others.
~You must thank the giver of the award…

So it is with great pleasure that I present the Smile Award to:
Tiffany at Little Larsen’s – Tiffany is such an inspiring mom. I love reading about the antics her kiddos get up to. Even though I live right next door, sometimes I read about things on her blog first before I hear about them. :) Anyway, she always has a handle on things and I admire her for that.

Laurie at Incredible Adventures of Ian & Chase – Laurie has a way of telling a story that makes even the most mundane day sound interesting. I love reading her take on things. Again, being next door, it is funny that we read each other’s blogs so religiously. Conversations often begin with, “Did you read my blog yet today?”

Rhiannon at daverhi – Rhi has been writing more lately, which makes me happy. I miss her family a lot and LOVE hearing what they are up to.

Kristen at The Adventures of Add-and-Land – Kristen is a new(ish) friend that I have met in real life, but got to know much better over the internet. I have a feeling that if we lived closer, we would be pretty good friends. She just had a new baby, so let’s all congratulate her on the arrival of Landon Matthews Corn!

LeShayne at The T’s & Me – I love reading LeShayne’s blog because I feel like she gives me a peek into the future. Her kids are several years older than mine, so I get to see what life will be like with soccer, Brownies, PTA, etc. and trying to keep up with it all. I am impressed at her stamina and only hope I have as much when it is my turn.

It is so rare for me to get morning sickness that I am always shocked when it shows its face. This morning I felt queasy when I woke up, then again when it was time to eat breakfast. Of course I ended up ravenous right before yoga, so I downed a packet of Corn Pops in record time. Then at the grocery after yoga, I bought some muenster from the deli and ate it while walking around the store. I ate lunch and have been fine, but just now I started feeling a little funny. I think I get sick when I am hungry because it is almost snack time.

Tiffany swears that she got sick with her boys and not with her girls. So Tiff, I am counting on you. :)

I would like to officially announce that we are expecting baby #3 to arrive sometime in early November. I will be 6 weeks tomorrow so this is very early days yet, but I am too excited not to share with all of you. So far, I feel fine. No symptoms really. My first dr appt is April 2nd and I should be getting an ultrasound then so I will have pictures to share then.

    Leah

This morning, out of the blue, Leah said, “Mommy, when I have a baby, I want you to come to the hospital to see it.” I told her, “Of course I will come!!!” Then she went on to talk about how when she and Ian marry, she will invite him to the hospital to see the baby too. She asked, “Do you get married first or have a baby first?” I was very quick to tell her marriage comes first because it is safer for the baby. :)

    Erin

Erin and Leah were sitting at our little table today. They were bickering back and forth and all of a sudden Erin breaks away and says, “Peah…hit…arm” and she was holding her arm. We asked Leah if she hit Erin and she sheepishly said yes. So now she realizes that Erin can tell on her.

Erin’s current favorite phrase is “I need it” and she needs EVERYTHING!

Erin is the person in charge of blessing you when you sneeze in our family. She never fails to say, “Bess you, Mom.”

We have had a pretty good trip in spite of the first night. Leah coughed her head off and had a fever, but it passed and she has been fine ever since. She tried skiing one day (I had walked back to put Erin down for a nap and MISSED IT) and she really liked it. But of course she said she didn’t want to do it again. She LOVED playing in the snow and riding the sled as we pulled it around. Her favorite thing to do is dive out of the sled whole being pulled. She would get up laughing her head off every time.

Erin did not love being out in the snow. Every time we brought her out, she would walk a little way and just stop. She would not play or anything, she would just stand there. Today she stood there and cried. She would only stay out like 15 minutes and it took at least 15 minutes to get her ready to go out in the first place.

They both LOVED the indoor heated pool. It was only 1 1/2 feet deep and they had a little shallow slide on one side. Erin actually went down the slide by herself once or twice. She also fell under maybe a total of 4 times this whole week and never freaked out about it. She would come up laughing (if she remembered to close her mouth before going under) almost every time. Leah was roaming all over the pool with no floaties and thought she was the coolest thing.

It has been nice visiting with Steve, Ronni, and the Wrigleys this week. But Stacy and I decided that the next family vacation will have to be somewhere warm! Pictures to come, we didn’t bring out camera cord.

    * I luff Hold Tight (a Backyardigans song)

Last night I attended the Volunteer Team Meeting for my new playgroup. Only people who hold positions in the playgroup came. I felt like I was just admitted to the “in-crowd” because most of these ladies have been a part of the playgroup since it began last October. I felt like I was trying to keep up most of the time. But I do feel like everyone liked my idea of a playgroup Easter Egg Hunt and the other coordinator and I are going to start discussing this quarter’s baby shower. So it was a success I suppose.

Erin and I also attended a playdate this morning with 5 other toddlers at a mom’s home. I made a cheese biscuit, sausage, and apple bake and everyone seemed grateful. At least they all asked for the recipe. It was fun to see Erin with more kids her age. Besides school, she is always with older kids.

Speaking of Erin, I think she has ANOTHER ear infection. Every time she gets the sniffles it settles in her ears. I need to bring her to the dr tomorrow because if it is an infection, we need to handle it before our trip next week. We do NOT need another repeat of Beech Mountain.
